HOW DOES IT WORK

How does AMFE function

The miniature fire extinguishers automatically detect and extinguish a fire inside electrical devices, preventing the further spread of a fire. With AMFE.pro a fire is suppressed in an early stage, thus keeping the damages as small as possible.

How AMFE fire extinguisher works

Any combustible material can start burning in the presence of oxygen and a sufficient amount of heat.

Due to rising heat in a fire scenario the pressure inside the glass bulb increases. After the predetermined operating temperature of the heat-sensitive glass bulb is reached, the glass bulb bursts into small fragments and triggers a mechanism that releases the Novec™ fire extinguishing agent from the cylinder.

Additional functionality of great value

The S-AMFE fire extinguisher not only releases the fire extinguishing agent automatically but also signals to a monitoring system that it has released the extinguishing gas.

The R-AMFE fire extinguisher releases the fire extinguishing agent automatically and sends a signal to a monitoring system, furthermore, it can be remotely triggered. For example, upon the earliest detection of smoke, a signal can be initiated to the R-AMFE to release the extinguishing gas even before the critical temperature is reached.

The function of the Novec™ fire extinguishing agent

AMFE products provide a safe extinguishing with the new generation Novec™ extinguishing agent engineered by 3M™.

Once the AMFE fire extinguisher is automatically activated, the space is rapidly flooded with the Novec™ fire extinguishing agent. It has an excellent penetration capacity and rapidly reaches all critical areas (e.g. in switching cabinets). After being discharged, Novec™ gasifies immediately to flood the area as a gaseous agent. It withdraws the heat from the fire, thus interrupting the fire in seconds.
